Alexander & Dianner Atherton Scott family

Alexander Scott s/o John Wilson II & Mary Keith Scott b. 2 Aug 1810 Jackson (now Clay) co. Tenn. d. 25 May 1881 Daviess co. Mo.  m. 18 Feb 1831 Tazewell co. Ill. (by his uncle Martin Scott) Dianner Atherton d/o Jonathan Sr. & Elizabeth Brown Atherton  b. 25 Feb 1815 Grayson co. Ky. d. 28 Jun 1893 Daviess co. Mo.  They moved to Pike co. Ill. in the 1840's; he is shown in the 1840 census in Dewitt county as "Alexander Scott Jr.".  They are not listed in the 1860 census; by 1870 they are in Daviess co. Mo.  In 1880 Alexander's occupation was listed as "notary public".  Her name is spelled "Dianner" on her tombstone, so I've chosen to consider that the correct spelling.  13 children, 7 survived:

Gilworth b. 6 Nov 1830  d. 15 Oct 1901; at least 3 children (Elizabeth had been said to have married a John B. Hobbs and died young without any children, but no proof was ever found)
• Mary Jane- b. 26 Apr 1834 McLean co. Ill.  d. 9 Oct 1839 Dewitt co. Ill.
• John William- b. 11 Aug 1835 McLean co. Ill.  d. 9 Oct 1838 McLean co. Ill.
• Joshua B. - b. 30 May 1837 McLean co. Ill.  d. 20 Sept 1919  Jamesport, Daviess co. Mo.  m/1. 14 May/Mar 1860  Meribah/Miribah G. Brooks d/o Archibald Harper & Lucinda Lockhart Sanders Brooks b. 1839/40 Pike co. Ill.  d. 13 Feb 1863 (one son);  Joshua m/2. 24/5 Nov 1872  Daviess co. Mo.  Mary Jane Kemp d/o John & Eleanor Hays Kemp  b. 20 Apr 1852 Jamesport, Daviess co. Mo.  d. 30 Dec 1904 Jamesport, Daviess co. Mo.; 2 sons

• Lucinda Breeden- b. 14 Nov 1847 Pike co. Ill.  d. 22 Apr 1917 Chillicothe, Livingston co. Mo.; never married, three children; one son (Edgar Anderson Scott 1881-1938) and one daughter (b. 13 May 1885, Daviess co. Mo., died before 1900) known, by a Thomas Anderson Gaines (b. 12 Feb 1846 - 14 Mar 1907)
• Rosanna "Annie" - b. 14 Mar 1850 Pike co. Ill.  d. 2/3 Nov 1933 Daviess co. Mo.  m. 27 Feb 1870 Daviess co. Mo.  Benjamin Franklin Cox s/o Joseph & Catherine Hockensmith Cox  b. 28 Feb 1846 Frankfort, Ky.  d. 26 Apr 1925 Daviess co. Mo.  Benjamin served in Co. K, 64th Illinois Volunteer Infantry in the Civil War.  9 children.
